Who We AreÂ
High Life Highland delivers the Youth Leadership Programme, which includes managing programme participation, attendance, mentoring activities and Young Leader volunteering opportunities.
Data Controller: The Highland Council
High Life Highland delivers services on behalf of The Highland Council and processes personal information under its instructions where applicable.
What Information We CollectÂ
We may collect:
- Name
- Address
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Date of birth
- Emergency contact details
- Attendance records
- Programme participation records
- Medical information where necessary
- PVG information for Young Leader volunteers aged 16+
We will only collect information that is necessary for the purpose outlined above.

Where required, we may collect:
- Health information
- Medical conditions
- Disability information
- Additional support requirements
Where this applies, we will process this information in accordance with UK GDPR and applicable legislation.
Why We Use Your InformationÂ
We use your information to:
- Manage programme bookings and attendance
- Support participant engagement
- Provide mentoring opportunities
- Assess and recruit Young Leader volunteers
- Conduct safeguarding checks
- Communicate programme information
- Provide training and support
- Contact participants and volunteers in emergencies

We process personal information for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest.
Additional Conditions for Special Category Data
Explicit Consent (Article 9(2)(a) UK GDPR)
Where medical information is collected, we rely on your explicit consent to process and manage that information.
Safeguarding of Children and Individuals at Risk
Where PVG information is processed for Young Leader volunteers aged 16 and over, processing is necessary for safeguarding purposes and is carried out in accordance with Schedule 1, Part 2, Paragraph 18 of the Data Protection Act 2018.
If You Do Not Provide InformationÂ
If you choose not to provide the information requested, we may be unable to:
- Reserve a place on the programme
- Manage attendance
- Provide support for medical or additional needs
- Process Young Leader applications
- Carry out safeguarding checks
- Allow participation in programme activities
Who We Share Information WithÂ
We may share information with:
- Disclosure Scotland for PVG checks
- High Life Highland staff involved in programme delivery
- Highland Council staff where required
- Approved booking, volunteer management or support system providers
Information will only be shared where there is a lawful basis to do so.

International TransfersÂ
Your information is normally processed within the United Kingdom.
Where information is transferred outside the UK, appropriate safeguards will be in place to protect your personal information.
How Long We Keep InformationÂ
Your information will be retained in accordance with High Life Highland's Retention Schedule.
Retention Period: Until completion of the training programme plus 1 year.
Once the retention period has expired, your information will be securely deleted or anonymised.
Automated Decision Making and ProfilingÂ
Your personal information is not subject to automated decision-making or profiling.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request erasure of your information in certain circumstances
