Search or browse over 130,000 records in our online catalogue

Discover the rich history of the Highlands through our online catalogue, which provides access to over 130,000 detailed descriptions of archives and library holdings. These records are held across our four Archive Centres in Inverness, Portree, Fort William, and Wick, and the catalogue is regularly updated.

You can search by keyword, reference number, or Archive Centre to find records related to your area of interest.

Important Notice: Distressing Language in Historical Records

Some archival materials may contain historic and potentially offensive language. We are actively working to address discriminatory terminology and improve representation within our catalogues.

We invite you to read our Distressing Language Advisory Statement in full for more information.

If you come across content you believe should be reviewed, please email us.

Donate to our Archives

The Archive Service preserves, conserves and makes accessible over 700 years of Highland history. There is no charge to visit our Archive Centres and access the collections we hold, but High Life Highland is a charity and we rely on your donations.
