Clubs and Community

Our aim

Our aim is to bring together clubs and groups offering sport and physical activity opportunities in Highland, along with key partners involved in health and well-being, physical activity, and sport development to build capacity and capability in community organisations and increase participation levels.

How we make it happen

To do this we have established 12 Area Sport Club Networks across Highland. These Networks are based on the sportscotland Community Sports Hub approach to support and empower local people to improve sport and physical activity in communities and to facilitate and deliver activities and interventions.

The specific aims of the Area Sport Club Networks in the Highlands are to:

  • Provide a forum for all local sports clubs, activity groups and partners to meet, share good practice, information and ideas to increase the amount of sporting opportunities within our local communities and increase participation levels.
  • Encourage a more coordinated approach to the development of physical and mental health opportunities that meet local needs, are easily accessible and cater for all within the community.
  • Support our local community clubs to deliver quality, fun and safe sports activity with a focus on equality, good governance and safe practice.
  • Provide coach and volunteer education opportunities and funding support.

Our two High Life Highland Community Sport Hub Officers are on hand to lead the Area Sport Club Networks and provide support where needed.
