Helmsdale Library is a friendly and accessible space offering free Wi-Fi, photocopying, and scanning services.
The library has a good selection of fiction and non-fiction books for all ages and is open daily. A weekly Lego Club and a variety of games and jigsaws are available for visitors to enjoy.
Helmsdale Library also acts as a Citylink agent, allowing staff to assist with bus bookings. Whether you're borrowing books, joining a club, or planning a journey, Helmsdale Library is here to help.

Helmsdale Library is centrally located within the Helmsdale Community Centre on Dunrobin Street which is easily walkable from anywhere in the village.

Helmsdale Library is located within the Helmsdale Community Centre on Dunrobin Street. The Local, 906 Lairg to Helmsdale Bus Service, run by Macleod’s Coaches, bus stop, is located approximately 100 yards from Helmsdale Library at the end of Dunrobin Street, near the village square. The main road, A9 bus stop is located approximately 100 yards from Helmsdale Library, for bus passengers using both the Scottish Citylink X99 bus service and the Ember EV bus route service.
From the A9 north, take the turn into Helmsdale village centre. As you enter the village, turn left onto Dunrobin Street and you’ll find the Community Centre there. The library is situated within that building.

Helmsdale Library is partially accessible to wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. There is a ramp to the main entrance and level access to reception and public areas. However, all doors are manually operated, and the lower level is currently inaccessible due to a lift being out of order. Accessible toilets and parking are available, along with a drop-off point at street level
