Fine art is a term used to encompass different types of artworks, but particuarly paintings and sculptures, including: 

  • oil paintings and acrylic paintings e.g. landscapes, portraits, abstract works
  • watercolour paintings
  • pen and ink paintings and drawings
  • drawings and pastel drawings
  • prints e.g. woodcuts, engravings, etchings, lithographs, monoprints
  • miniature portraits e.g. the Bowerbank Jacobite collection
  • sketchbooks and albums e.g. preparatory designs
  • photographic and digital art e.g. collage, photography, film, soundscapes
  • sculptures e.g. marble busts and plaster medallions by PreRaphaelite sculptor Alexander Munro, bronze statues by Gerald Laing, box constructions by Will MacLean

IMAG collects works by artists living or working in the Highlands, as well as renowned Scottish artists.  We also collect artworks that are of or influenced by Highland landscapes, people or culture.  The style of work can be traditional, figurative, abstract, illustrative or documentary.
