Reaching Ferrycroft Visitor Centre on foot is straightforward and enjoyable, with well‑used local pavements and paths linking the centre to the surrounding area and villiage of Lairg.
Lairg is not directly on a signed National Cycle Network (NCN) route, but it can be reached via NCN Route 1, also known as the North Sea Cycle Route, which passes through Tain and the Kyle of Sutherland before continuing inland to Lairg on quiet, lightly trafficked roads
By bus: Regular bus services stop nearby at Black Bridge, Lairg, which is around a 5‑minute walk from the centre. Services serving Lairg include Stagecoach routes 4 (Lairg–Tain) and 906 (Lairg–Helmsdale), as well as longer‑distance services such as route 805 (Durness–Inverness). By train: Lairg railway station is served by ScotRail services on the Far North Line. From the station, Ferrycroft Visitor Centre is approximately a 30‑minute walk via local pavements and paths. Visitors are advised to check current timetables before travelling, as services may vary seasonally.
Ferrycroft Visitor Centre is located in Lairg and is easily reached from the A836, the main route through the village. From the A836, cross the Black Bridge (A839) and follow local road signs through the village towards Loch Shin and Ferrycroft. The visitor centre is signposted from the village centre
