High Life Highland is bringing one of the world's fastest-growing fitness formats to Aviemore Community Centre — and whether you're a seasoned HYROX athlete or just curious about the buzz, this is your chance to find out what all the fuss is about.
On Saturday 30 May, our 4G football pitch will be transformed into a full HYROX-style fitness arena, complete with eight workout stations, professional timing chips and high-energy music to keep you moving. It's been designed to feel as close to a real race day as possible — without having to travel to a major city to get there.
It's going to be a great day — not just for our regulars, but for anyone who fancies joining us for the challenge of a timed event designed to feel like a real HYROX race.

What is HYROX?
HYROX is a global fitness race format that combines running with functional workout stations — think rowing, sled pushes, burpee broad jumps and more. It's grown hugely in popularity because it's genuinely open to everyone, from elite athletes to complete beginners.
Our HYROX training programme takes those same fundamentals and builds them into a performance fitness plan that develops strength, endurance, aerobic capacity, agility and functional fitness — all in one workout.
Everyone's welcome
You can take on the sim event as a solo competitor or team up with a partner and take part as a doubles team. Spectators are warmly welcome too, so bring your friends and family along to cheer on the competitors.
Josh Brannan, Leisure Supervisor at Aviemore Community Centre, said: "HYROX has really captured the imagination of our members here in Aviemore and at the Craig MacLean Leisure Centre in Grantown-on-Spey. People are incredibly dedicated to their sessions, and it truly is for everyone, with a wide range of ages and abilities taking part."
HYROX is growing across the Highlands
The Aviemore event is part of something bigger. We've been building our HYROX offering across the region, with training classes and simulation events now running at leisure centres in Aviemore, Grantown-on-Spey, Inverness, Fortrose and Fort William.
Whether you're just getting started or already training for a real HYROX race, there's a place for you.
