Due to the ongoing situation in the UK with COVID-19, Lochaber Archive Centre is closed to the public until further notice.
We will endeavour to answer email enquiries to the best of our ability, however as we will have limited access to documents this may not be possible.
We will also be working with our partners across Highland including The Highland Council to provide support to our communities where it is needed most. Thank you for your understanding.
As part of the Highland Archive Service, the Lochaber Archive Centre at Fort William is responsible for locating, preserving and making accessible documents relating to all aspects of Highland history. The Lochaber Archive Centre collects and preserves archives relating to Lochaber, dating from the 17th century to the present.
Lochaber Archive Centre is open to the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm, closing between 1pm and 2pm for lunch.
Limited public parking is available to the rear of Alexander Ross House, this includes disabled parking. Alternatively there is a large car park opposite the Centre (West End Car Park), accessed via the West End roundabout.
If you would like further information on the collections please contact us via email on [email protected] or telephone 01397 707050.
