Reading groups

A group of people sit in a circle, each holding and reading a book. The focus is on their hands and books, with only the lower parts of their faces and bodies visible.

High Life Highland libraries host a welcoming range of reading groups for adults and young people, offering a relaxed way to enjoy books, share recommendations, and meet others with similar interests. Groups take place in libraries and private homes across the Highlands and cover a wide variety of genres, from contemporary fiction and classics to crime, non‑fiction and themed reading choices.

Whether you're an avid reader or just getting back into the habit, our groups provide friendly discussion, new perspectives, and the chance to discover books you might never have picked up otherwise. Many groups also borrow sets of books through the library service, making it easy for everyone to take part.

High Life Highland Libraries do not have any involvement in the set-up or running of many of these groups, however we do provide information and support for Reading Groups.  If you're interested in joining a reading group, starting one of your own, or want to know what’s available locally, we’re here to help. Our team can offer guidance, book set reservations, and ongoing support for reading clubs across the region.
