High Life Highland (HLH) is pleased to offer Wi-Fi access to its members and visitors (hereinafter referred to as users). Access to Wi-Fi is offered on condition that users agree to abide by this Wi-Fi Acceptable Use Policy.
Terms of Use
- The use of the Wi-Fi service is a privilege and not a right, which may be taken away if abused.
- Child level internet filtering applies to the Wi-Fi service. Adult users who do find legitimate sites blocked are advised to use the public access computers which can be found in a number of HLH buildings - mainly in public and community libraries.
- Parents and guardians of minors are responsible for setting and conveying the standards that their children should follow when using media and information sources.
- Passwords should be held as private information and not disclosed to anyone else.
- The user acknowledges that the internet is not a secure environment, and that disclosure of personal information on-line, including bank details, is at the user’s own risk. High Life Highland accepts no responsibility for the consequences of any such transmission of information. Users should not utilise the Wi-Fi service to submit, publish, display, download, copy or transmit any information which:
- is illegal because it violates copyright laws, Data Protection Act, Computer Misuse Act or any other relevant legislation
- is harmful to any other person
- encourages illegal behaviour
- Users must not attempt to store, produce, copy, access or display material which may be considered to be offensive. This may include text or images of a sexual, pornographic, obscene, defamatory, libellous nature, or which promotes violence, contains hate speech or any material of an illegal nature, or likely to cause distress or offence to others.
- HLH give no warranties with respect to the Wi-Fi service and it specifically assumes no liability for:
- the content, accuracy or quality of any advice or information received by the user from any internet source or any costs or charges incurred as a result of seeing or accepting such advice or information
- any costs, liability or damages caused by the way the user chooses to use the Wi-Fi service
- any consequences of service interruptions or subsequent charges
- loss of personal data, files or other information
- E-Resources – HLH provides access to digital media from Askews e-books, digital newspapers, One Click Digital and Zinio, and to extensive on-line reference tools. Use of these services is subject to the providers’ terms and conditions. HLH accepts no responsibility for materials accessed from these providers. Parents or guardians must assume responsibility for guiding young people in their use of these services.
