We're delighted to welcome Dr Beth Macfarlane and Dr Emma Rushworth from Menopause Health Highland as guest contributors to our blog. Both are British Menopause Society registered specialists with years of GP experience and a long-established interest in women's health. Here, they share what their upcoming Wellness morning will cover — and why they believe the menopause conversation needs to change.
You don't have to navigate this alone
Menopause can be a challenging time.
The hormonal changes that occur can cause several different symptoms, and these can impact on day-to-day life for so many women. During this time of transition, things can feel confusing, isolating, and at times overwhelming. There is so much information available on the internet and in the media, that it can be hard to know where to turn and what advice to follow. What we do know is that no one needs to manage these symptoms alone.
Menopause is a natural part of life, but the way we experience it is changing. With better information, open conversations and supportive communities, women are no longer just getting through it – they are redefining it.
What to expect from the session
In this Wellness morning, Drs Beth Macfarlane and Emma Rushworth will aim to explore the main issues around the menopause and create a space where these important conversations about menopause can happen. The session will cover the symptoms of menopause and discuss what potential treatment options are available. Our aim is to provide some practical advice, education and support for individuals who are keen to learn more about navigating the menopause. You might be experiencing symptoms of perimenopause or menopause yourself, supporting a partner or relative that is affected, or perhaps you are simply keen to learn more.
Our hope is to empower women, to show them that the menopause can also be a positive time of life, and to help women feel more in control of their health and wellbeing.
The session takes place on Saturday 6 June 2026, 10:00am–12:00pm at Bught Park Pavilion, Inverness. Tickets are available now, book your place here.
