Volunteering

2 gardens volunteers with beaming smiles on their faces as they help plant up some flower troughs.

Our volunteers play a vital part in many aspects of the smooth running of the Gardens. Over the last few years they have spent many hours on the various tasks to assist our gardeners. Inside and outside they help with many horticultural tasks and maintaining our woodwork, paths and glasshouses. We also have dedicated volunteers for the Grow project who assist our horticultural trainers with the running of the gardens with the Grow gardeners.

Gardens Volunteers

Gardens volunteers support the running of the formal gardens in many ways, including planting up, weeding, potting on, general garden maintenance tasks and assisting with/ attending workshops. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working as a team whilst being immersed in a garden setting.

I volunteer because I love working with beautiful material and I enjoy the interaction with the visitors – they are always grateful for the work that we do and I have made wonderful friends!

Grow Project Volunteers

Grow Volunteers support adults with additional needs to engage with gardening tasks, such as soil cultivation, propagation, compost turning, lifting tubs, pushing wheelbarrows, weeding and watering. We welcome volunteers who are kind, patient and understanding, with an interest in gardening and nature, but especially an interest in supporting other people of mixed abilities and additional support needs.

I love the social contact with the Grow Gardeners and with fellow volunteers. I have met some wonderful and interesting people. Every day is a school day at the Grow Project!
