The Highland Archive Service is proud to work with schools across the entire Highland Council area.  Schools groups are welcomed at all four of our archive centres and staff are available to visit schools, give talks and run workshops across the Highlands.

With maps, photographs and documents covering over 700 years of Highland history we can support topic learning across multiple subjects including Jacobites, Your Local Area, the Highland Clearances, World Wars One and Two, the Atlantic Slave Trade, and many more.

In addition we can supply pupils with copy documents to use as inspiration for creative subjects and can work with schools to provide pupils with the skills needed to handle, engage with, and analyse primary source material.

To discuss using our collections in an educational setting, please contact the relevant archive centre.

"A brilliant session delivered to my P6 class. Very informative, interesting and pitched right at the children’s level of understanding. We all really enjoyed your presentation – please come back!!!! Thank you so much and hope to see you in the future!"
