Our aim is to share the stories and information in our archive collections with as many people as possible, both in the Highlands and beyond.
In addition to welcoming researchers and hosting open days and events in all four of our archive centres, staff from the Highland Archive Service attend clan gatherings, Highland games and community events across the Highland Council area. We work closely with HMP Inverness, care homes, and a wide range of other groups and organisations to ensure meaningful access to our collections across a wide range of audiences.
We frequently give talks about Highland history and the work of the Archive Service (both in person and online) and provide tours for community groups and other organisations.
On behalf of all of our members who visited the Archive Centre yesterday I would like to thank you very much for the tour and the presentation you gave. Everyone really enjoyed it and I have had lots of feedback already from folk who are keen to make use of all the Archives have to offer. One comment was 'Brilliant asset for the Highlands'. I can certainly agree with that.
If you're interested in arranging a group visit, or want to find out more about what we offer, please contact the relevant archive centre. There is no charge for these but donations toward the work of the Highland Archive Service are greatly appreciated.
