From craft fairs and coffee mornings to bake sales and live music — something special is happening in our libraries this March.
We're hosting a week of fundraising events across our Highland libraries from 9–14 March, and we'd love you to come along. Whether you're young or young at heart, there's something for everyone — and every visit and donation helps us continue to invest in this vital community resource.
Why our libraries need your support
Our libraries are so much more than places to borrow books. They're community hubs where people of all ages come together — for BookBug sessions, Lego and Code clubs, craft groups, book clubs, author visits, and digital support. They offer free access to IT facilities, a warm place to sit, and a friendly face if you need one.
As Julie Corcoran, our Head of Libraries, puts it:
"Our libraries are VIPs — Very Important Places! They're not just places to go to borrow a book or quiet spaces for study — they are so much more and are truly at the centre of every community.
"With that in mind, and with a view to making sure we can continue to play this vital role, we are having a focused fundraising drive. We hope in doing so we can boost our donations target."
What's happening near you
Here are just some of the highlights taking place during fundraising week:
- Fortrose Library — family science and technology day
- Dornoch Library — crafts stall
- Beauly Library — delicious bake sale
- Culloden Library — family bingo
- Nairn Library — Easter Extravaganza
- Plockton Library — card making workshop
And that's just a taster! Check your local library for the full programme of events.
Tell us what you think
Alongside fundraising week, we're also running a user survey from 2–14 March for adult customers. We want to hear about your experience of using our library service and your ideas for future improvements. Every response helps us shape the service around what matters most to you.
Get involved
Whether you pop in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, pick up a handmade craft, or simply make a donation — every bit of support makes a real difference to the future of your local library.
