Celebrating young talent
Once again, Nairn Academy pupils have demonstrated their commitment to sport and leadership at their annual awards evening.
The recent event celebrated the remarkable achievements of the town’s young athletes and leaders, with three times winner of the World’s Strongest man, Tom Stoltman there to present the prizes. Also sharing inspiring words with pupils was guest speaker Gavin Ordish-Smith – winner of Strictly Inverness and former Nairn Academy sports leader – with his dance partner Michaela Newlands.
Awards were handed out for outstanding accomplishments in sports from school to regional and national levels, as well as tribute paid to the commitment and impact of participants in the High Life Highland Leadership Programme who have demonstrated exceptional initiative and drive in their roles.

A legacy of leadership
Nairn Academy is where the Leadership Programme began in 2004, in the very early days of the Active Schools initiative and was eventually rolled out across the region. Since 2022 when electronic records, 7,700 young people have registered to take part in the programme. 1,028 young people registered in this academic year alone, which equates three people signing up per day.
