Scotland's national poet, Peter Mackay (Pàdraig MacAoidh), will visit Bettyhill Library on Thursday 4 September for a special evening celebrating literature, language and culture as part of the Blas Festival Fringe.
The event is funded by the Scottish Book Trust and Blas Festival, in partnership with High Life Highland.
Who is Peter Mackay
Appointed Scotland's Makar in 2024, Mackay succeeded acclaimed poet Kathleen Jamie, who visited Bettyhill Library in 2023.
Originally from the Isle of Lewis, he is Professor of Literature at the University of St Andrews and is also a respected broadcaster and journalist.
An evening of Highland culture
An Evening with Peter Mackay will take place at 7.30pm and offers audiences the opportunity to hear from one of Scotland's leading literary voices in an informal community setting.
The event is free to attend, and refreshments will be provided.
Part of the Blas Festival Fringe
Blas Festival runs from 4 to 12 September and showcases Highland culture, language and the arts through a varied programme of events across the region.
