Looking for things to do with the family this Easter? We've got you covered — with adventures, activities, and experiences across the Highlands to keep everyone happy, whatever the weather.

The Highland school Easter holidays run from Friday, 3 April 2026, to Friday, 17 April 2026. Here's our pick of what's on.

Visit the Highland Folk Museum

Step back in time at the Highland Folk Museum

Step into the past and experience life in the Scottish Highlands as it was lived from the 1700s through to the mid-20th century. Wander through our unique open-air museum, home to over 35 carefully reconstructed historical buildings, and discover how Highland communities worked, learned, and spent their leisure time.

Don't miss Kirk's Store Sweetie Shop — where little ones (and big ones!) can choose traditional sweets from jars in an authentic old-fashioned shop. It never gets old.

The Highland Folk Museum opens 1st April 2026, no charge for entry - donations welcome.

Adventure awaits at The Inverness Castle Experience

More than a castle — the Inverness Castle Experience is a modern, immersive journey into the stories of our landscape, people, and heritage. Designed with everyone in mind, from the young to the young at heart, it's the perfect family day out in the heart of Inverness.

Step inside and discover interactive installations, immersive exhibits, and hands-on activities that bring the stories of the Highlands' past, present, and future to life. Take time to enjoy the beautiful castle gardens overlooking the River Ness — perfect for a family stroll, a photo stop, or simply soaking in the views.

Feeling peckish? The Saltire Bistro serves up wee portions for little visitors, lovingly created using the best local produce from across the Highlands — from mac & cheese and burgers to delicious desserts. And before you leave, be sure to pop into our castle shop, which stocks a great range of kids' products — perfect for a special Easter treat or a wee holiday memento.

The Inverness Castle Experience is also taking part in the Inverness BID Great Easter Egg Hunt this year — a brilliant free trail around Inverness city centre that's perfect for families. Find out more about the Great Easter Egg Hunt
