We've been working closely with The Highland Council and contractors throughout the summer to invest in Inverness Leisure, ensuring it remains the fun-filled place you know and love for many years to come. Over the past few months, you may have noticed that some areas of our swimming pool and health suite have been unavailable.
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, modern, and high-quality facility, we have been carrying out detailed assessments to identify and prioritise essential improvement works. While Inverness Leisure has welcomed millions of visitors over its 30-year history and benefited from previous upgrades and refurbishments, continued investment is important to ensure the facility meets the needs of our customers now and into the future.
A huge thank you to all our members and returning customers — your patience while this work has taken place means a lot to us. Here's the latest on what's been happening, plus news of an upgrade planned for our competition pool.
An update on our flumes
Our flumes have been taking a breather while specialist teams carried out in-depth surveys and testing. It's all part of planning the next chapter for our much-loved flumes; we know exactly how much kids — and big kids — love them!
Further assessments have been required, however we're now anticipating full reports from our contractors in mid-September. As soon as we have them, we'll share our next update on getting the flumes open again. Good news in the meantime: the wave pool and lazy river are open as normal and ready for action.
Outdoor pool
You'll know that our outdoor thistle-shaped pool has been out of action for a while too, but we're delighted to say that our team has been working hard behind the scenes to get it back open again as soon as possible. Watch this space — we can't wait to make a splash with the announcement!
Health suite
As part of the same testing programme on the flumes, our spa bath has been unavailable. We know our health suite regulars have missed it, and we're grateful for your understanding while the thorough testing takes place. We're expecting results back from contractors in the next few weeks, and we'll follow up immediately after with our plan for getting the spa bubbling again.
Competition pool: lighting upgrade and closure
We're investing in a full and necessary upgrade to more environmentally friendly lighting above and around the competition pool area. Pool regulars may have noticed that a number of lights have stopped working, and contractors have been exploring all options for the refitting of new lights. Having exhausted all options, the project requires scaffolding to be erected and used for the upgrade work to happen safely.
This work means that the competition pool will be fully closed from 21st September to 23rd October.
While contractors are up there, they'll also be redesigning the lighting setup so future changes can be made faster in future — smarter for the pool, and for the planet.
Don't worry — if your child is currently attending swimming lessons, we will be in touch directly to talk through temporary options for their sessions during this time. We're working on this now and will be in touch shortly.
A handy reminder: your highlife membership gives you access to all our other High Life Highland pools too, including Culloden Leisure Centre, Nairn Leisure Centre and Dingwall Leisure Centre — so there's always somewhere to swim.
All of this work is about keeping Inverness Leisure fit, fun and flowing for the next 30 years and beyond. Thank you for bearing with us — we look forward to bringing you another update in a few weeks.
