This special display features a selection of artefacts from the collections of Inverness Museum and Art Gallery and the Highland Folk Museum.  The objects will be discussed by our guest speakers at our Anniversary Collections Conference, who have each conducted research on the collections within their specific sphere of interest.  The artefacts in this display have been specially selected to allow conference attendees and museum visitors the opportunity to view these items up-close in person.

Our four talks and speakers are:

  • "The Gin Heiress and the Maharajah: Inverness Museum's Jacobite Collections" by Jennifer Morag Henderson
  • “'Scrappies, rag and bone, and back door small tradings’: how Travellers helped develop the collections of the Highland Folk Museum” by Dr Rhona Ramsay
  • “Inverness Silver: Makers, Masterpieces and the Museum’s Story” by Lyndsay McGill, R.L. Christie Works of Art
  • “The materials, ecology, and sensations of wild plant use in Scottish vernacular cordage and basketry at the Highland Folk Museum collection” by Nysa N. Loudon, PhD Candidate, University of Glasgow.

Tickets to attend the Conference are now available, both 'in person' or 'digital access only' - visit the Conference page to find out more.

This display can be found in the first-floor Foyer Galleryat IMAG, from 13 November 2026 to 6 March 2027.
