Who we are
Located in the small coastal hamlet of Auckengill, the Caithness Broch Centre is dedicated to exploring the archaeology, history, and enduring mystery of brochs—towering stone structures that define the Iron Age landscape of northern Scotland. The centre celebrates the exceptional concentration of brochs in Caithness, providing a gateway to understanding why this region became such an important hub for ancient communities.
What we offer visitors
With clearly presented displays, artefacts, and modern interpretations, the centre aims to make Iron Age life accessible and engaging for all audiences. It is run as a welcoming, community‑centred museum where visitors can immerse themselves in local heritage at their own pace.
The Caithness Broch Centre is currently closed for the 2025 season and will reopen in April 2026.
Admission is free.
