Regular activities

Tain Library hosts a range of regular activities that are welcome to all and  is a vibrant hub for creativity, connection, and lifelong learning. Please refer to the list below to find out more information about each activity. You can also keep an eye out for upcoming activities on the library notice boards and the Tain Library Facebook events page.

Children's activities:

  • Bookbug - Every Wednesday during term time (first Wednesday of the month is Gaelic Bookbug), 11 - 11:30am.
  • Gaelic Bookbug  - Every First Wednesday of the month, 11 - 11:30am
  • LEGO Club – for ages 12 and under, Saturday mornings during term-time, 11am-12pm

Adult activities:

  • Reading Group - Every 6 weeks on a Thursday Evening, 7.30 – 9pm
  • Chess Club  – all welcome, both experienced players & beginners; refreshments provided, Tuesday mornings 10am-12pm
  • LGBT+ monthly gathering - Wednesday evenings once a month, 7 - 9pm
  • Poetry for All - Looking at poetry of all kinds, including your own, every 2nd Thursday 2:30 - 3:30pm
  • Shakespeare Aloud - every second Thursday, 2 - 3:30pm
  • Writing Group - every second Tuesday, 4 - 6:30pm
  • Knitwits - Bring your own project or craft for charity, every 2nd Saturday 10am - 12pm
  • Jigsaw - All welcome to have a go, we have an on-going communal jigsaw in the library as well as over 100 jigsaws you can borrow
  • Short Story Group every 3rd Friday, 15:00-16.30.

All events are free of charge; most come with a cup of tea/coffee & a cake, for which a small donation would be welcome.

We also run various drop-in sessions for Digital Skills, Adult Learning and ESOL. For more information please contact the library.
