As part of our long-standing commitment to supporting the democratic process in the Highlands, Inverness Leisure will once again be hosting the count and declaration for Highland constituencies during the Scottish Parliamentary Election. As a result, parts of our dryside facility will be temporarily closed during the week commencing 4 May 2026.

What's closing and when?

The following areas will be affected:

  • Gym: Friday 8 May and Saturday 9 May
  • Sports Hall 1: Monday 4 May to Saturday 9 May (inclusive)
  • Strength & Conditioning Room: Friday 8 May and Saturday 9 May
  • Studio 1: Thursday 7 May to Saturday 9 May (inclusive)
  • Studio 3: Closed from 12pm on Tuesday 5 May to Saturday 9 May (inclusive)

What's staying open?

The swimming pools, health suite, and Queen's Park running track will remain open throughout. All areas will be fully operational again from Sunday 10 May.

Car parking

Customers should be aware that there will be some disruption to car parking during this period, along with increased security and a police presence on the day of the count. We'll share full details closer to the time on our social media channels and they'll be displayed in the centre and on our website.

Stay up to date

If we're able to reopen any areas earlier than expected, we'll post updates on our Facebook page. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work with colleagues at The Highland Council to host this important event.
