High Life Highland is bringing the excitement of a Hyrox sim event to the Craig MacLean Leisure Centre in Grantown-on-Spey, giving fitness enthusiasts the chance to experience the world’s fastest-growing fitness race in a realistic format.
Taking place on Saturday 22 August, the event promises to deliver all the energy and atmosphere of race day, with competitors taking on a series of Hyrox-inspired fitness challenges designed to test strength, endurance and determination.
We look forward to welcoming lots of competitors on the day and providing them with an authentic Hyrox experience.

What is Hyrox?
Hyrox has rapidly become one of the most popular fitness events in the world, combining functional workout stations with endurance-based challenges. Suitable for a wide range of fitness levels, it has attracted everyone from seasoned athletes to those looking for a new personal challenge.
At the Craig MacLean Leisure Centre sim, participants will tackle eight Hyrox-style workout stations set up across the centre’s large gym hall and the Grantown Grammar School sports pitch. Professional timing chips, high-energy music and a motivating atmosphere will help recreate an authentic Hyrox race experience.
Whether you're looking to push your personal limits or simply enjoy a fun and supportive fitness event, there is a category for you. Participants can enter as solo competitors or doubles, while friends, family and supporters are encouraged to come along and cheer competitors on throughout the day.
Hyrox Growing Across High Life Highland
High Life Highland has embraced the growing popularity of Hyrox, with dedicated training classes and simulation events now running across five leisure centres including Aviemore, Inverness, Fortrose, Fort William and Grantown-on-Spey.
The programme has proved hugely popular, attracting hundreds of participants each month and helping people of all fitness abilities improve their strength, endurance, aerobic fitness, agility and functional movement skills.
Similar to high-intensity circuit training, Hyrox training provides a comprehensive performance fitness programme while remaining accessible to anyone willing to challenge themselves.
An Authentic Race-Day Experience
The upcoming event marks the first Hyrox simulation hosted at Craig MacLean Leisure Centre, and the team is looking forward to welcoming competitors from across the region.
