Have a big swinging day out with the Highland Youth Big Band

If Michael Bublé or the Glen Miller Orchestra are your swing thing, then don’t miss the opportunity to be part of a musical big day out with the Highland Youth Big Band.

This special event on Saturday 14 March at the Nairn Community & Arts Centre involves daytime workshops with top tutors followed by a fabulous concert full of jazz and swing classics.

The workshops are open to the members of the public who can play an instrument to an appropriate standard, and they will also have the opportunity to take part in the concert afterwards, alongside members of the Highland Youth Big Band and music tutors.

Top Tutors

For those who want to take part in the workshops and subsequently join the Highland Youth Big Band on stage for the performance, the day starts at 10am, with the concert taking place from 4.30-6pm. For musical members of the public, the cost to take part in the workshops and concert is £50 and they need to fill in this online form Highland Youth Big Band Swing & Jazz Festival to confirm a place.

Some of Scotland’s best jazz and swing musicians have been drafted in to share their skill and expertise with participants, including saxophone player Sue McKenzie, bassist Seth Bennet and top trumpeter Allan Wylie.
