Inverness Leisure » Changing Facilities

At Inverness Leisure we aim to be as inclusive as possible, therefore this page has been specifically created to offer information and advice to customers who may find having a knowledge of our changing and showering facilities of benefit before visiting the centre.

We are delighted to be recognised by the Changing Places campaign

Changing Places are different to standard disabled toilets with extra features and more space to meet the needs of any customer.

Inverness Leisure have provided specific changing areas for our customers who might need more assistance than others to get changed

Within the areas we have provided

  • a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench
  • a tracking hoist system
  • a shower
  • adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers
  • a centrally placed toilet with room either side for the carers
  • a screen to allow the disabled person and carer some privacy
  • wide tear off paper roll to cover the bench
  • a large waste bin for disposable pads

The changing places area is located between the male and female changing area within the dry side of the facility

Inverness Leisure is currently working on providing a 2nd changing area within the wet side of the facility and this is expected to be available for use after the summer

Wetside Changing – swimming pools and health suite (sauna, steam, spa):

Customer changing facilities for the pools and health suite are of a modern ‘changing village’ layout with no gender specific areas. The set-up means that pool and health suite users can access individual private cubicles for changing before and after bathing.

In the main, showering facilities in the wetside are of a communal nature simply offering customers a ‘rinse down’ and where swimwear should still be worn. Private showering is available and can be accessed by simply asking a member of our team.

Group changing rooms are also available for use by visiting clubs, groups and organisations.

Lockers are located throughout the Changing Village and operate on a 20p deposit or key pad entry system.

Dryside changing – sports halls, gym, studio, climbing wall, Queens Park etc.

As the sports centre is of a slightly older architectural design, the changing facilities are of a gender-specific communal layout. Both the male and female changing rooms are open with a number of private changing facilities therein.

Each of the male and female changing rooms lead off to their respective shower rooms. The male showering is communal with one private showering facility available, whereas while the female showers are still ‘open’ they have cubicles offering a basic level of showering privacy.

Private changing and showering facilities are available in the sports centre and these can be accessed by asking a member of our team.

Lockers in the dryside are located within both the changing rooms as well as in the communal access areas through the sports centre and operate on a cash free mechanism.

Charges for changing & showering

The showering and changing facilities are obviously free when taken along with one of the activities offered at Inverness Leisure however charges apply for individuals and non-members wishing to use the facility solely for changing/showering.

Towels and costumes can be hired from main reception.
