Who do you think highly of at High Life Highland?

High Life Highland’s dedicated staff are the backbone of the organisation and now is the time to nominate your local High Life Highland hero for a prestigious i-care award.

High Life Highland’s 2025 i-care awards are designed to recognise and celebrate the great successes that the charity’s staff and volunteers achieve every day to make life better for the people of the Highlands. There are nine categories in total but only the public get to nominate a staff member for the Peoples’ Choice Award – so who do you think consistently demonstrates an outstanding level of service? Who goes over and above to ensure the product, service or activity is delivered to a high standard?

Steve Walsh, High Life Highland Chief Executive said: “The Public Choice Award is highly contested every year, with nominations coming in from across the region, and across all our services. So, if you have a favourite High Life Highland member of staff who deserves special recognition for their hard work and dedication to the role, make sure you nominate them before the closing date of 18 July!

“Last year the Peoples Choice Award was won by the wonderful Jenny Rankine at Dingwall Leisure Centre, with her class participants all keen to see Jenny in the spotlight for being an inspiring and motivational instructor.

“Whether it’s a gym instructor, a leisure assistant, librarian, archivist, gardener, countryside ranger, music tutor, museum guide – whatever their role – we want to hear if they are your local High Life Highland hero.

“Our annual awards is a great event and a wonderful way to celebrate all our staff and volunteers and all the fantastic work they do day in day out, so please do get involved.”

Each award is judged within the criteria of High Life Highland’s i-care values: Integrity, Community, Accountability, Respect and Example.

  • Integrity: The person or team you are nominating is open, honest, and consistently builds trust with customers.
  • Community: Actively contributes to a positive community and supports ideas that benefit the broader community. Shows a commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and building strong relationships.
  • Accountability: Takes ownership of responsibilities and consistently delivers high-quality level of service. Reliable and solution focused.
  • Respect: Treats everyone with dignity and fairness, regardless of position or background.  Values diversity and promotes an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and respected.
  • Example: Inspires others through professionalism, leading by example and shows customer care at all times.
