Are you aged 16-24, based in the Highlands? Are you looking to connect with other young people, learn something new and gain experience in the museum and galleries sector? Then we need you!
We are looking for enthusiastic people to help us lead a new project. ‘Communities of Making’ will explore how local heritage and traditional making has evolved through the museum collections with the creation of an exhibition.
You will take part in workshops, go behind the scenes of the museums and art gallery, learn about endangered crafts and develop transferable skills all while socialising with young people from around the Highlands. There is also the opportunity to visit a partner museum, CofGâr – Carmarthenshire Museums & Arts Service in Wales.
You will be involved with co-curating this display, highlighting the importance of endangered crafts while gaining practical experience, perfect for applications and CVs. Your travel expenses will be covered and £50 in vouchers of your choice are available for each in person session you attend. Our first young curators’ cohort will run from March 2026.
If this sounds like something you would like to be involved with, then we want to hear from you. There is no prior experience necessary. All you need to do is write a paragraph about why you want to be involved, no more than 300 words, or send us a 3 -4-minute voice note/video.
Applications will close: 16th February 2026
