Henry Flynn has worked in collections management at the British Museum’s Department of Coins and Medals for ten years. He has been Project Curator of the Money and Medals Network since 2013 and regularly travels the UK visiting museums with collections of coins, medals and banknotes to provide helpful advice and gather collections information for the Money and Medals website.
The Money and Medals Network is an Arts Council England co-funded project that exists to build and develop relationships between UK public institutions that have numismatic collections. Numismatics is a broader subject than you might think. Beyond coins and medals, it covers banknotes, tokens, badges and associated objects such as money boxes and credit cards.
The Money and Medals collections mapping project has revealed a number of fascinating numismatic collections in museums in Scotland, and at this event Henry will be discussing them, demonstrating some numismatic highlights and showing you how you can find out more as well as how you can get involved.
