Opportunity to join High Life Highland Board

The Highland Council is looking to recruit two directors onto the board of High Life Highland to provide strategic direction and governance to the company and expert advice and support to its management team.

High Life Highland (HLH) is a charity registered in Scotland and a company, limited by guarantee, wholly owned by The Highland Council. Its ambition is to be acknowledged and respected as the leading organisation for developing and promoting opportunities in culture, learning, sport, leisure, health and wellbeing and to grow the business in a sustainable way by providing services that the public value and by being viewed as a trusted partner.

This opportunity has come about due to the retiral of current Directors.

Applications are welcome from people with a good track record in business or community management with experience of working as part of a board or senior management team of a charity or other large organisation, experience of leading a team within a company or community organisation as well as knowledge of the cultural, learning and/or leisure sector in the Highlands. An interest and/or experience in representing young people’s views, health, employability, older people’s issues, partnership working, commercial operations and tourism would be particularly welcome.

To continue to increase the diversity of the board, applications from women, people from a range of backgrounds, and those who represent the breadth of geography in which services are delivered would be particularly welcome. The positions are unpaid but reasonable expenses will be available.

Anyone interested has until 5pm on 22 January 2021 to submit their application.  Interviews will take place on 15 February 2021 and the appointments will be confirmed at the 4 March 2021 Highland Council meeting.

The position is not open to employees of The Highland Council or High Life Highland.
