Spelling binding night at Fortrose Library

A powerful spell was cast on Fortrose Library last week turning it into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! Well for one night anyway! Almost 30 children aged 7-12 descended (no broomsticks required) on Fortrose Library for Harry Potter Book Night – all dressed up as their favourite characters – for an evening of activities and storytelling.

Children and parents alike enjoyed visiting the ‘Room of Requirement’ and peering into the ‘Mirror of Erised’ before listening to the story of Harry’s first Halloween at Hogwarts.

This event is a favourite of young people from across the community, encouraging them to celebrate the power of imagination and inspiring them to see libraries as exciting places to visit.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the magical activities which included making wands and broomsticks using natural and recycled materials to celebrate Green Libraries Week with participants describing the event as ‘fantastic’, ‘spell-binding’ and ‘mesmerising’.
