Outreach for Schools

Crown Primary visit (2)

Our aim is to help as many schools as possible in the Highlands discover the history and heritage of the area by providing access to original archive material. We respond to requests from schools requesting archive material relating to local topics of their choice. We can offer the option of welcoming school groups to our bespoke Learning Centre, or we can arrange for the Education & Outreach Co-ordinator to deliver a session at a school or to send copies of documents to schools for teachers to deliver sessions using original archive material themselves. In the past we have tailored sessions for schools studying topics such as the Highland Clearances, the Jacobites, slavery and the Highland connection, housing and health, family history and many others.
