Culloden Academy deliver Sports Leaders Level 1 in S3 and Community Sports Leaders in S6. There are a number of pupils in the school mainly S3-S6 who are currently volunteering in sport, predominantly out with the school provision eg. Saturday football, Inverness Harriers coaching, club specific coaching. Further encouragement in conjunction with the support from the Sports Committee is required to deploy senior pupils in to after school clubs. There are a number of teachers (PE and subject specific) who are already delivering after school sport, however there is an opportunity to offer activity between 5-6pm and possible activity before school.

2017/2018 Plan

• support volunteer teacher to continue with after school gymnastics to make the club more accessible to all youngsters
• support student coach to continue with after school badminton
• set up a 6 week spinning club with Ward Funding. Target group S3-S4. Link taster sessions to a regular HLH class.
• continue to develop after school girls activities in conjunction with support from Young Ambassadors, Sports Committee. Identify a programme for Term 3 to offer to P7s as part of transition.
• set up a 6 week martial art after school club with a view to linking to a local club or a new club
• Encourage parent volunteers to help support after school clubs particularly in the supervision of senior pupil/Sports Leaders deliverers. Work with Parent Council to identify contact information.
• Deploy newly qualified dance leaders in to after school clubs on Friday afternoons – either cluster or primary specific.
• continue to support lunch time table tennis club with sports leaders delivering
• continue to support Indoor Rowing as a lunch time club. Submit results as part of the HLH Highland Indoor Rowing league. Liaise with volunteer teacher to provide coaching for pupils with a view to offering a rowing session with the Inverness Rowing Club.
• continue to invite a local sports club to the school as a drop-in lunch time session to promote their club activities, junior section tasters and event.
Meet with sports prefects, PE staff and Young Ambassadors to agree on a plan to target inactive youngsters particularly in S2-S5. Encourage YAs to deliver their presentation to assembly groups. Invite talented athletes to speak in assembly on their pathway to success in sport which includes commitment, dedication and resilience along with the many other skills acquired through playing sport.
Promote through school website and new school facebook page – recruitment of parents and their role in assisting with after school clubs.
Continue to support sports leaders with delivering lunch time sessions for S1-S3 girls and boys dodgeball.
