Ardersier Primary

Tennis AS

Ardersier Primary is one of the rural schools in the cluster, with Croy Primary being the other small school only 4 miles away, there is an opportunity to offer extra curricular activity to both schools to widen the choice of activity but also to increase participation.

The Ardersier area is identified on the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation therefore subsidising sessions for youngsters where a qualified coach is recruited is key to increasing participation, however this requires external funding. We have had success with this in the past as part of the 2014/2015 Active Schools Summer Programme where the Highland Council Discretionary Budget has enabled us to purchase gymnastics mats, deliver a tennis camp in partnership with Inverness Tennis & Squash Club, offer badminton coaching and a gymnastics camp.

Active Schools continues to encourage volunteer parents to engage in our after school programme, by offering support through the Highlife Highland Coach Education Programme and creating links with our Sports Development Officers. It is with the support of our volunteer parents that we will be able to extend the Active Schools programme not only within Ardersier Primary but in the surrounding community.
