An inspiring member of the Lochaber Leisure Centre team has narrowly missed out on an accolade at the Scottish Leisure Network Group Awards, which took place last week.
Leisure supervisor Kira MacDonald was nominated in the Rising Star Award category by senior High Life Highland colleagues for consistently going above and beyond in every aspect of her role.
Lisa MacDonald, Area Leisure Manager with High Life Highland said: “Kira’s work ethic is second to none, she consistently delivers results of the highest standard and she has been instrumental in delivering the successful rollout of Hyrox across High Life Highland – a major achievement that has expanded our fitness offerings.
“Another of Kira’s standout contributions has been her initiative in implementing energy efficiency measures within the centre and her forward-thinking approach has led to more sustainable operations, aligning with our broader environmental goals.
“Further demonstrating her commitment is Kira’s drive to take on vocational studies to further her professional development, showing a real passion for excellence and her desire to bring the very best to her role.”
And Kira’s leadership qualities extend beyond the workplace, with Kira having recently been selected to represent Scotland at the shinty hurling international last month.
Lisa added: “This is a remarkable achievement that reflects Kira’s dedication, discipline, and talent. This honour not only highlights her personal commitment to sport and fitness but also serves as an inspiration to colleagues and community members alike. And while not successful in the Rising Star category on the night – she is most certainly a star in all our eyes.”
High Life Highland is a member of the Scottish Leisure Network Group, which connects and supports Scotland’s not-for-profit leisure providers to improve the health and wellbeing of the nation.
