Inverness Leisure hosted the latest High Life Highland Hyrox Simulation (Sim) event at weekend (Saturday 1 November), with 70 competitors pushing themselves to the limit in what is described as the ultimate fitness race.
High Life Highland has fully embraced the fitness phenomenon that is Hyrox with training classes taking place in highlife leisure centres in Aviemore, Grantown, Inverness and Fort William, with more in the pipeline.
A special fit out of Studio 3 at Inverness Leisure was recently carried out in order to expand the highlife Hyrox offering. As a result there are now 10 Hyrox training classes per week, with 40 spaces in each class at Inverness Leisure alone.
Hyrox resembles traditional circuit training with the objective being to build baseline fitness in participants covering strength, endurance, aerobic capacity, agility and skill work.
Leisure Manager Ross Dudgeon said: “Our first Hyrox Sim was a massive success with all our participants really going for it and enjoying the challenge of a timed event, designed to feel like a real Hyrox race. Our Hyrox training sessions at Inverness Leisure are proving really popular – there is a real buzz around these sessions – and we look forward to hosting another Sim event in the near future.”
