High Life Highland’s Running Event
The HLH Virtual Running Challenge starts on Monday 1st March 2021 and will run for the duration of the month.
We are missing being able to run our Cross-Country events and practices this year but we want to still help you get out and run!
This virtual Running Event hopes to get as many Primary aged children from across the Highlands to participate.
Each pupil who completes their local course and submits their entry, will receive an email certificate. We will also showcase the participation figures per Primary School and School Cluster and then award schools with the highest percentage of pupils taking part as our ‘Active Highland Virtual Running Series Champions’.
The challenge can be completed in your own time during the month of March, within your own local area and you can also create your own course. Your local Active Schools Coordinators will also identify some local courses for you, and you will be able to find them on the local Active Schools Facebook pages. Routes can be recorded via use of a SMART device or simply by means of a marked course and stopwatch. Remember all these routes are to be completed at your own risk, should only be completed with adult supervision and taking the weather and underfoot conditions into consideration.
Each age group has a minimum distance to be covered:
P1-P3 – 600m
P4-P5 – 1200m
P6-P7 – 1800m
You can complete your local courses as many times as you want during the month and submit all your entries. Time is not a requirement, yet if recorded it can be included in your submission. We also encourage you to upload and share your photos, videos, tracking data and stories through our social media channels.
The submission of all participant runs to be in by 5pm on Wednesday 31st March 2021 via the HLH Challenge Link below. Entries after this time may not be counted.
Good luck to all pupils and schools taking part!
