Sportscotland in partnership with Children 1st have created a new training resource for Safeguarding in Sport. This new resource is now called Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport (CWPS) and replaces the UK Coaching Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop (SPC).

As part of the workshop, you must complete a short eLearning module on ‘Brightspace’ [sportscotland’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)] prior to attending the three hour workshop. You will receive an email link to complete this around one week before the course start date.

The workshop itself is a child protection awareness course that helps participants to identify good coaching practice and understand what constitutes abuse and how to take appropriate action if abuse is suspected.  This workshop will be delivered on a virtual classroom platform.

Minimum age 16, parental consent required for Under 18’s attending.

Cost: £20 per person (Activity Code: ACT001948)

To book your place please visit: https://booking.highlifehighland.com/ if you are a High Life member already please use your email and password (pin) to log in and then select ‘General Activities’.  In the Search menus, use the activity code to search for the course.

Minimum numbers for the course must be reached two weeks prior to the course start date and bookings will close 3 working days before the Course start date at 12.00pm.

CWPS Renewal award?

Is your CWPS certificate about to expire? If yes, then you are eligible for Renewal award. If no, then wait until it is about to expire and then start the renewal process. You can check your certificate for the expiry date or check with your SGB.

sportscotland is offering coaches and volunteers (the learner) the opportunity to advance their learning in CWPS, by giving FREE access to renewal modules in various topics. Instead of just repeating CWPS training after 3 years (i.e completing module 1 & 2), the learner can renew their certificate for another 3 years by completing a series of eLearning. This learning is then valid for another 3 years and it is only then that the learner must complete the whole CWPS training again.

Self Register for the renewal using the following link Child wellbeing and protection in sport: Renewal training (office.com)
