Inverness Canoe Club: Paddle Festival 2016
Saturday 20 – Sunday 21 August (and Monday 22 August option), locations around Oban, meet Benderloch Village Hall, Saturday evening. Coaching in open boat and/or sea kayak.
You may have been to a paddle symposium before, and experienced what good fun they are, but this is the first time the Inverness Canoe Club itself has organised one. The Festival will be an opportunity to learn new skills, and because it is organised by the Club for the Club, it is at a super affordable price. We’ve got some great coaches lined up, led by level 5 coach Tony Hammock and accompanied by top coaches including Claire Knifton, George Fell and Ken Lacey. The focus will be on developing open boat and sea kayak skills (based on the survey of members preferences undertaken earlier in the year) – and basing ourselves in this area will give us the opportunity to learn in a variety of spectacular locations.
On Saturday night we’ll have a meal, a talk about a paddling trip in Alaska by Tony Hammock, accompanied by a pie and pea supper.
The costs comprise of
- a registration fee, £7.50
- workshop fees (one or both days) at £26 per day – or join a free peer or led paddle
- Evening meal and talk, £6.00
- Club boat hire if you need it, £5 per day (please email the organiser directly)
- Optional Monday paddling (depends on demand).
Please make a separate booking for each person attending, rather than buying multiple tickets at the same time. You’ll need to make your own arrangements for accommodation (suggestions below) and all additional food . You must be a member of the Inverness Canoe Club to attend.
