Looking for work? High Life Highland set to pilot an Open Day event for Recruitment

Members of the public are invited to Inverness Leisure on Friday 1st December from 10am to 6:30pm for the pilot ‘Recruitment Open Day’ event aimed at those looking for full-time, part-time, and flexible job options.

This first-of-its-kind event at Inverness Leisure will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about High Life Highland and hear about what being a High Life Highland employee is like first-hand, directly from current members of staff.

Kevin Thomson, High Life Highland’s Area Leisure Manager, said: “Whether you’re a school leaver looking for a steppingstone into the world of work, seeking out a career change that offers a new skillset, or looking for an extra stream of income through the winter period, I encourage you to consider dropping by on the day to scope out what a future working with High Life Highland could look like.

“If you’re feeling a little apprehensive about what some of these roles entail or the kinds of qualifications needed to start, our staff will be in attendance on the day to give you all the information and reassurance you need, as well as to share their personal testimonials.

“Our friendly staff can also explain more about the training opportunities and accreditations tied to some of the specialised roles – if you’re thinking about becoming a lifeguard, for example, you can even take part in a swim test on the day!”

Steven Clelland, High Life Highland’s Leisure Manager for Inverness Leisure, said: “We are looking for new talent to join our team in a variety of roles within Inverness Leisure.

“Positions and free training stretch across all areas, including: lifeguard, dryside, fitness instructors, reception, swimming teachers, and more.

“If you’re feeling inspired and ready to apply there and then, our staff are more than happy to support you through the process, with the potential for a same-day interview.

“Without staff in these areas, it would be impossible to keep Inverness Leisure regularly open to the public, so we’re keen to get as many applicants in for the roles as possible.”

Other opportunities may include family-friendly flexible shifts in the Inverness Botanic Gardens Café, or opportunities to become a Gardener, as well as casual shifts doing Caretaking across High Life Highland’s Inverness Community Centres.

Ross Dudgeon, High Life Highland’s Facility Manager at Inverness Royal Academy Sport Centre, concluded: “By joining our team as a caretaker, you will be making a real difference in your community following High Life Highland’s charity proposition of ‘making life better’.

“As a valued member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring our centre remains a welcoming and engaging hub for people of all ages.”

The event is set to be a busy day, showcasing all the roles on offer across Inverness Botanic Gardens, the Archive Centre, Community Centres, Inverness Leisure, and more.
