Black Isle Leisure Centre doors thrown open to public

People living in the Black Isle and the surrounding area are invited to get to know the facilities on offer at the Black Isle Leisure Centre when it throws its doors open this Saturday 20th May 2023 between 9am and 3.30pm.

High Life Highland’s Leisure Manager, Ian Goode explained, “As part of an ongoing programme to upgrade gyms across the High Life Highland network, the Black Isle Leisure Centre benefited from a significant upgrade to facilities as part of that programme.

“As well as the new gym, people using the Black Isle Leisure Centre enjoy access to adult group fitness classes, children’s activities in term time with an extensive holiday activity programme and our main hall is available for indoor sports such as 5-a-side football or badminton.

The Black Isle Leisure Centre Manager went on, “The open day will give everyone an opportunity to try out the wide range of equipment, classes and facilities on offer at Black Isle Leisure Centre. It is open to non-members, as well as people who have already joined the highlife programme. Online booking is recommended for all of the open day activities, although walk-ins may be offered where there is space available.

“The activities on offer include Body pump, kettle bells, indoor cycling classes and pilates. Children’s activities will also be part of the programme, with a bouncy castle, games and crafts. There will be opportunities to try the facilities available for table tennis, badminton, and strength training – have a look at the programme online at hlh.scot/BILC-Open-Day  to find out more and book your place.

Highland Councillor for the Black Isle ward Lyndsey Johnston said, “It is great to see that the Black Isle Leisure Centre is opening its doors to the public this weekend, giving everyone a chance to see the upgraded facilities, along with the other activities and services that are available on local people’s doorstep.

“I know first-hand how welcoming the staff are at Black Isle leisure centre and how they make the equipment simple to use and accessible, so I would encourage everyone to take a trip to the local centre this weekend and give it a go.”

Steve Walsh, High Life Highland’s Chief Executive said, “Ensuring that affordable access to leisure and gym facilities is available to communities throughout the Highlands is key for High Life Highland. We aim to support the wellbeing of our communities, particularly during this time of increasing pressures on all of our finances.

“Our highlife membership offers affordable access to a whole range of facilities, including Black Isle Leisure Centre, so do come along on our open day to find out more about what’s on offer – its open to everyone. I’d encourage anyone interested in joining to come along and find out more about the affordable membership options available.”

Ian Goode, Black Isle Leisure Centre manager, went on, “We are inviting everyone in the local area to come along to our open day at Black Isle Leisure Centre and experience some of the very latest equipment now available in our gym. Anyone can come along and try out the classes on offer, as well as have a look at the new gym equipment.

“For people keen to sign up to particular activities, I’d recommend that those interested in coming along book in advance, as its sure to be a busy day.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming new people to come and experience our facility. All in all, we hope that the open day will encourage everyone living locally to find out about what is on offer at Black Isle Leisure Centre.

“The gym refit means the Dolphin room is now used for our Cardio equipment and the existing Fitness Suite is for fixed resistance machines and the new strength and condition equipment.

“The additional equipment that you will find at the Centre are a Dual Adjustable Pulley, an Olympic Flat Bench, a Half Rack, an Abdominal Crunch, a Low Row, an Adjustable Bench, a Skill Bench and some upgraded treadmills.”
