A big thank you to all who attended the Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre Open Day on 6th June 2017. We launched our new exhibition of historic photographs and postcards of the area which was very well received. It was lovely to see so many new visitors to the centre and to welcome back many familiar faces too. Of particular interest were the school photographs and 1900s images of Skye and the Cuillin by Sir William Abney. The archive films proved popular, with some customers recognising relatives on the screen. The exhibition of photographs and postcards will be available throughout summer during our usual opening hours and the original archive material we had on display is always available on request.
