Over the Sea to Skye: A History of Tourism in Skye and Lochalsh

Our new exhibition is now available at the Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre in Portree during our usual opening hours: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm.  There is no charge to access the exhibition.

The exhibition considers some of the early visitors to Skye and Lochalsh and examines the topics of travel, accommodation, myths and legends, castles and clans, popular events such as Highland Games and Skye Week, and the evolution of the tourism industry in general.  There is also an opportunity to view archival film footage of the area, including family holiday footage as well as promotional films.  We look forward to seeing you there!
