New classes for November 2017

Using School Records for Family and Local History Research

The Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre is running another 2 week block of classes – Using School Records for Family and Local History Research – as part of High Life Highland’s You Time programme.

Classes will be held at the Archive Centre in Portree from 10:30-12:30 on Wednesday 22 and Wednesday 29 November.  The cost for the 2 week block is £11.60 (full price), £5.80 (60 years+), £1 (budget High Life card holders) or free (High Life All Inclusive members).

The sessions will examine local education records, including school log books, admission registers and photographs, and demonstrate how they can reveal details relating to the pupils and teachers.  We will also focus on how the records can help us to understand more about the local area.
