An Inter-Library Loan Service is available to all members of High Life Highland Libraries. This service seeks to provide access to material not held by Highland Libraries. We also supply our own material to other libraries and institutions.
What is Inter Library Loan?
Inter-Library Loan (ILL) is the process by which our library requests material from, or supplies material to, another library. Highland Library users can request materials not owned by Highland Libraries through Inter Library Loan.
Request charges
- Items which are in Highland Libraries’ stock – free
- Items which have to be borrowed from another library service using the Inter-Library Loans scheme – cost of return postage – maximum charge £10.00
- Renewal of items borrowed through the Inter-Library Loans scheme: first renewal free, subsequent renewals £3.00 each
- Photocopied articles obtained through the Inter-Library Loans scheme: £2.00 for up to 10 pages, then £0.10 per page
