Bringing together a group of five Highlands & Islands designer makers with four collaborators from Iceland, ShiftED is a two year long project which supports these designers to share ideas, techniques and skills and provides opportunities to explore each other’s’ environments and challenges.
ShiftED is a showcase of the participants collaborative work first created for DesignMarch 18, a design festival held in Reykjavik every March. This presentation is part of XpoNorth (Scotland’s leading Creative Industries Festival).
Icelandic makers have similar issues to our Highlands and Islands makers – distance and remoteness and challenging and expensive travel when participating in international shows and events. We hope that by sharing these challenges our participants will come up with innovative ways to address the issues, will provide support and encouragement to each other and ultimately benefit from increased audiences and sales.
The project has been supported by supported by Creative Scotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and XpoNorth. This funding will allow the designers to create new work both collaboratively and individually and to explore new products, processes and techniques. The showcase at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery is presented as part of XpoNorth, Scotland’s leading creative industries festival. Click here for more information. #IMAG #ShiftED
