Gilly Langton

Jewellery

Gilly Langton was born Chorley, Lancashire 1973, but now lives and works in Plockton in the Highlands of Scotland.  Since graduating from Loughborough College of Art and Design with a BA Honours in Silversmithing and Jewellery. Gilly has established her jewellery practice and shows her work in exhibitions and fairs throughout the UK and internationally, including SOFA (Chicago), Origin (London) and Eu-nique (Germany).

Taking inspiration from her home in the fishing village of Plockton, Gilly references equipment and mechanisms used in the nautical sphere, such as ropes and pullies, and designs pieces incorporating contrasting properties and colours reflecting the strength and struggle of a seafaring way of life. She challenges the properties of control and resilience with minimal aesthetics, creating dramatic pieces of beauty, strength and texture. #IMAG #GillyLangton
