FLOW PhotoFest

8 – 30 September, Main Art Gallery

(Preview: Thursday 7 September, 6-8pm)

IMAG are delighted to be part of the inaugural FLOW photography festival this September with presentations of work from Kieran Dodds and Sigga Ella. With it’s theme of ‘People and Place’ the festival will host internationally acclaimed photographers from Iceland, Finland, Scotland and Norway.

Scottish photographer Kieran Dodds is known internationally for his research-driven photo stories and portraiture. For FLOW Kieran will present work from his ongoing series, Gingers. Kieran notes that his radiant minority is sometimes subject to ridicule and stereotyping, and “want to use this derogatory word and redeem it for its descriptive power.”

Sigga Ella was born Iceland, and will be presenting First and foremost I am – a series consists of 21 portraits of people who all have Down’s Syndrome. She chose to photograph people of all ages and both genders and wanted to show that each of these individuals is a person like anyone else. The series is an eye opener for the beauty and diversity of mankind and makes us wonder if the future without this diversity is desirable.
