Research

Inverness Museum and Art Gallery aims to provide a welcoming museums service that provides a resource, inspiration, learning and enjoyment for all.

Our considerable collections cover a diversity of primary sources, including applied and fine arts, archaeology, archives, botany, biological specimens, geology, social history and palaeontology, amongst others.  As such, both our exhibited and reserve collections are an invaluable resource for researchers wishing to explore the human and natural narrative of the Highlands.

Our Curatorial Team are happy to deal with enquiries from individuals and institutions alike and will, by appointment, arrange for access to the collections for researchers of every type.

Whether you are undertaking a dissertation, exploring your family’s Highland roots or wanting to develop your knowledge of the diversity of native species in our region, do get in touch.
