Award-winning basketmaker Sarah Paramor uses traditional basketry skills to create contemporary pieces for exhibition and for the catwalk. In this collection she explores materials that inspire her – everything from corsetry boning to tape measures; moss to maps – making unconventional bags and baskets fit for the runway. Supported by a Highland Visual Artist & Craft Maker Award.
Sarah lives in Applecross and works in a byre (cowshed). She is one of eight designer-makers on the Craft Scotland Compass Emerging Maker Programme 2019, and her work will be shown in a major review of contemporary basketry at Ruthin Craft Centre, Wales, from July 2019.
